Step back in time with a visit to St. Jacobs and Elmira, home to Canada’s largest Mennonite community. Learn about the Mennonites’ European roots and the enduring traditions of the Old Order, who live without electricity, travel by horse and buggy, and maintain a deeply rooted way of life grounded in pacifism, modesty, and separation from modern culture.
After a hearty, home-cooked Mennonite lunch—complete with freshly baked pie—we’ll venture into the surrounding countryside with a local guide who brings the community’s stories to life.
We’ll finish our day with free time to browse the quaint shops and cafés of Elmira, soaking in the peaceful rhythm of this unique cultural enclave.
