The Romantic movement rose as an act of defiance against empire, industry, and the mechanisation of the soul. What do their dreams of renewal offer our age of despair? Expect reverence and resistance from a time of slavery and war.
Pete Bearder is an award-winning spoken word poet, author, and comic whose work has featured on BBC Radio 4, Newsnight, and the World Service.

We are linking up with Oxford's very own people's historian Jess Worth to make this a radical history weekender! Follow up Friday night's tales of rebellion by taking to the streets on Saturday, to visit sites of radical resistance around Oxford's historic centre. Learn about epic ‘town vs gown’ riots, fiercely independent medieval women, determined but doomed Levellers, acid-sprinkling Suffragettes and the locals who kicked fascists out of the city for good.
