Our program unfolds in two vibrant halves, each celebrating music that shaped the sound of its time. The first half features music of Ennio Morricone, including themes from The Mission and Cinema Paradiso, alongside the elegant wit and color of the Poulenc Trio. These cinematic and chamber masterworks reveal music’s power to tell stories of longing, nostalgia, and radiant beauty. In the second half, we step into the sparkle and swing of the 1920s and ’30s, where ragtime rhythms and popular melodies take center stage. Featuring works by George Gershwin and George Hamilton Green, this lively program for xylophone and piano captures the exuberance, charm, and irresistible energy of a bygone era. Please join us for an afternoon of cinematic sweep, rhythmic brilliance, and dazzling artistry.
