Advanced Camp is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for experienced youth skaters to train alongside the athletes of the Wheels of Justice, Portland and Rose City Rollers' internationally recognized all-star team and reigning 5-time WFTDA World Champions. Designed for current roller derby players with bout or scrimmage experience, this week delivers high-level coaching, competitive drills, strategy sessions, and direct mentorship from some of the sport's most accomplished athletes. In addition to on-skates training, campers will participate in off-skates activities, team-building exercises, and strategy sessions designed to deepen their understanding of the sport. Whether your skater is preparing for their next season, looking to level up their competitive game, or dreaming of one day skating at the highest levels of roller derby with Rose City Rollers, this camp offers an unforgettable opportunity to learn from the very best.
Throughout the week, campers will:
Learn advanced blocking, jamming, and gameplay strategy
Build speed, agility, edge control, and track awareness
Participate in small-group skills clinics and scenario-based drills
Receive individualized feedback from elite-level skaters
Develop confidence and leadership both on and off the track
Experience the training methods used by world-class competitors
Special guest instructors include:
🏆 Bonnie Thunders: jammer skills and offensive gameplay
🏆 Morgan Levy: strategy, gameplay systems, and track awareness
🏆 RollsMary's Baby: video review, game analysis, and derby IQ development
Who Should Register?
This advanced camp is open to youth skaters ages 12–17 of all genders who are currently playing roller derby and have previous scrimmage or bout experience.

$375 for general public (non-RCR members)
$325 for current RCR members

Week 2 June 22rd – June 26th: 7-11yo beginner
Week 3 July 6th – July 10th: 7-11yo advanced
Week 4 July 13th – July 17th: 12-17yo beginner
⭐ Camp Skill Levels:
→ Beginner = has never been on roller skates before OR has some roller skating experience; minimal derby experience
→ Intermediate = roller skates regularly, can plow stop, may have attended a week of camp before; some derby experience (either at a week-long camp or within the league)
→ Advanced = current roller derby player; at minimum, has some bout or scrimmage experience
⭐ What you’ll need:
→ Skates, Pads, Helmet - Don’t have your own? No sweat! Our gear lending library has you covered and loaners are included in your reservation!
→ Mouthguard - Moldable Sisu mouthguards are recommended over the non-moldable kind, especially for skaters with braces or sensory sensitivities. We will offer the non-moldable kind for free.
→ Water bottle - hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. There’s no A/C in the Hangar, so prepare your skater accordingly.
→ Lunch – Please send your skater to camp with a packed lunch.
⭐ What we will provide:
→ Gear – We will provide all necessary gear if needed.
→ Snacks - We’ll make sure the skaters are fed and having fun.
