Rolex and Kikomando - Uganda's Favourite Fast Foods!About this Event
Typically costing Uganda shillings 1,000 -2,000 (25-27 US cents)- depending on the number of eggs, the idea of Rolex food originated from a chapati seller's creativity in the Busoga region "the Basoga" then the idea spread to Wandegeya next to Makerere University in Uganda, fuelled by students who needed a quick meal because of time and budget limitations. The idea expanded into "Kimomando" which is a mixture of chappatti and beans!
The dish originally called rolled eggs, somehow foreigners heard Rolex, and somehow the name just stuck! With many terms and variations called such as "Titanic", "Kawuulu"... and others the dish has over the years culminated a lot of international attention. Even Trevor Noah has tweeted about the innovation before!
So my dear heygoer, you just can't miss any part of this tour. We shall learn more other local names, how to make it from home, where else to buy it while in Kampala and not on the street and more so - get a free cooking class! As we go through this tour, you might want to prepare the ingredients to make it along with us:

- Eggs
- Onion
- Cabbage
- Tomato

We will also be visiting some hearing-impaired youth who have ventured into Chapatti/ Rolex business in different parts of the country. See you there!
