Our Saturday Saunters are leisurely strolls are for anyone who would like to walk at an easy pace with a group of individuals in the same boat. This may be due to rehabilitation, ongoing illness / injuries, or just general fitness. Children are welcome, too.This one is a family-friendly trail of approx. 3.5 miles, easy walking. From the visitor centre car park we'll down into the deciduous woodland of Tockholes plantation and follow paths along the reservoir shoreline. Walking will be mostly on decent forest tracks, and at some points we'll have far reaching views up to Darwen Tower. There will be occasional small hills, but nothing too taxing or steep. The total elevation gain is only 440ft and very few (if any) stiles enroute!
As with all Abigail's Trails, this is a small-group guided walk led by a professional Mountain Leader. Spaces are limited and cost £8 per person. Well behaved, friendly dogs are welcome, but will need to be on leads for a few sections on this walk due to grazing livestock.
