You won’t want to miss Rocket Day! It’s going to be a BLAST!! ? ? Here’s what you need to know…Monday, June 28th
6-7pm
Oakdale Junior High School (park on the street and walk to the track)
Boys & Girls Kinder - 5th grade
NASA/SpaceX - we will have 4 former employees from NASA and SpaceX come share their experiences with us! 
PACK - we will provide the launch pads and controllers
SCOUTS - you will provide the rocket complete with A or B engine only, starter, wadding and parachute. ? ? The Oakdale Hobby Shop on Yosemite has rockets. https://www.facebook.com/Hobbies-Arts-Crafts-987361984616750/
PARENTS – It is required that parents help build the rocket to ensure it’s done correctly. We want our rockets to be SAFE and fun to launch. A quality control inspection will happen before launch and only those safe to fly will…this is for everyone’s safety.
WEATHER – if it’s too windy we will need to reschedule the launch…just like the real astronauts!! ? ?? ??
BRING – lawn chairs, blankets, sunscreen, bug spray, sunglasses ? , hat ? , snacks, closed toed shoes, water ? and your FRIENDS! This is a GREAT activity to invite your friends to who might be interested in joining cub scouts!
RESTROOMS - there are no public restrooms so please have your kids use the bathroom before arriving. ?
SAFETY GUIDELINES -
? Launch safety – countdowns, 15-foot safety circle
? Launchers – End of launch rod must be above eye level.
? Launch site – 200-foot open area required for a type B engine; monitor wind and dry grass conditions
? Every rocket should be safety inspected prior to launch.
? If a rocket misfires or does not launch, be sure to wait a minimum of 30 seconds before approaching it.
? Lightning, winds, or any adverse weather should immediately stop the launch.
? Recovery safety – Do not attempt recovery from power lines, tall trees, etc.
? In case of inclement weather, the launch will be rescheduled.
