The Denver Museum of Nature & Science welcomes award-winning author and photographer Stephen Alvarez as we celebrate the launch of his new book --- Rock Art: An American Story. For this evening, Stephen will take us back tens of thousands of years to explore what humanity’s earliest art reveals about who we are and how we evolved. Moved by the power of humanity’s earliest artworks, Stephen founded the Ancient Art Archive, a nonprofit dedicated to using the latest technology to share and preserve this fragile cultural legacy. When it comes to our earliest global ancestors, their tools were primitive. Their artwork was not.
He then traces his journey across the American landscape — working in partnership with Indigenous descendant communities — to raise awareness of the depth of this cultural inheritance.
