• Brandon Wayne & His Lonesome Drifters
Please allow me to introduce you to Brandon Wayne & His Lonesome Drifters—Central Virginia’s finest up-and-coming rockabilly band.
A modern day blast from the past, they put down a hot, danceable mix of 1940s and 1950s classic vintage country and hillbilly, western swing, electric bluegrass, surf instrumentals and rockabilly, as well as Brandon Wayne's super fine originals. Brandon's sweet nasal twang is truly one of the finest hillbilly voices on the scene today.
Brandon Wayne’s roots are deep in Central Virginia. He grew up with a banjo in his hand and became part of the heart and soul of the music that defines this area. The country, bluegrass and hillbilly songs that form the soundtrack to life here are in his blood and they are his driving passion. Many roots and rockabilly bands do a fine job paying homage to the music, but Brandon Wayne and His Lonesome Drifters are the real deal.
They've been evolving their unique blend of styles on their own monthly local Charlottesville cable access show, "The Blue Ridge Barn Dance," as well as on stages around the Central Virginia area. They’ve become regular favorites at Northside Grille, Death Ridge Brewery and Chisholm Vineyards.
They’ve also been invited to play the Red, Hot and Blue Rockabilly Weekender in Canada and the Rockin’ Race Jamboree in Spain in 2025.
The band is:
- Brandon Wayne – Charlottesville area native on guitar, banjo, vocals
- Charles “Speedy East” Arthur -- veteran multi-instrumentalist from Richmond on steel, drums, mandolin, banjo, guitar and vocals
- Matias Camino – veteran of the Buenos Aires and Los Angeles rockabilly scenes on upright bass
- Michael “Crazy Cousin Jimbo” Smith III – Brandon’s actual cousin on rhythm guitar
