Set in New York City in the months surrounding the most devastating hurricane in Puerto Rico’s history, González’s novel explores the event’s intersection with other storms we weather: familial strife, political corruption, and reaching for the elusive American dream.
Brooklyn native Xóchitl González is the author of the novels Anita de Monte Laughs Last (Flatiron, 2024) and Olga Dies Dreaming (Flatiron, 2022), a New York Times bestseller and named a Best of 2022 by TIME, Kirkus Reviews, The Washington Post, and NPR. A 2021 MFA graduate from the Iowa Writers Workshop, her nonfiction work has been published in Elle Decor, Allure, Vogue, Real Simple, and The Cut.
