Free. NextCorp will host this event. The venue is on the 6th floor of the Sibley Building. We have reserved the Tea Room in the back from 9:15 to 1:15. The space suitable for ~30 attendees. The agenda will be:
- Opening Remarks. Curent activities in the Fusion Startup Sector. A quick overview of key companies, key technologies and ongoing events that are occuring in fusion. Roughly 3,000 employees work at these startups and an estimated 10,000 people are touching this supply chain. Multiple firms have annouced plans for power plants including Helion (with Microsoft), CFS (with Google) and others. Total investment has passed 13 billion dollars - with roughly 2 billion focused on IFE, MFE recieving over 9 billion and the balance on miscellenous technologies. China has invested over 3x the USA, in government support since 2023. Industry survey showed ~436 million in external buys to the 12 months ending on April 2025 with spending projected to rise 25% in the coming 12 months. Current world record is 69% of net power with an all Superconducting Tokamak expected to exceed this record when CFS powers on SPARC in 2026/2027 timeframe.
- Customer Needs. What products and services do fusion companies need to buy? What can Rochester supply for this industry? How do you sell your products to this emerging market? Fusion startups like Xcimer need advanced optics that can be supplied by WNY firms like Optimax. They need large, high-precision, machined vacuum systems which can be fabricated by firms like Keller Technologies in Buffalo. They need tritium fuel systems which can be made by Torion USA (Brighton, NY) and huge amounts of superconducting tapes. They also need detectors, data bus systems, control software, plasma modeling codes and other products that can be supplied by WNY-based firms.
