About this Event

Looking for a FUN and Engaging Program During Winter Break?

This winter camp is inspired by the FIRST® LEGO® League Challenge fostering project-based learning that’s impactful and FUN. Students enjoy the friendly teamwork and learning from FLL Challenge missions without the stress of intense competition. With flexible sessions available, you can choose the ticket that perfectly aligns with your family's schedule.

Students will enjoy the fun-filled experience of this 3-day camp from one of these two weeks (week of 12/23 or 12/30) during the winter break. It includes both instructional sessions and hands-on practice. The program is designed for students ages 9 to 13 (grades 4-8). The sessions are a collaborative team setup where students explore STEM (science, technology, engineering, math) and delve into the captivating world of Lego robotics. Students will learn to code and master the art of building and programming robots to conquer exciting game missions.

Peer instructors empower students through problem-solving and hands-on learning, cultivating ownership of their educational journey.

Our program will equip your child with confidence and critical skills valuable in any future interest. At Queen City Robotics Alliance (QCRA), we want to do more than teach coding. We want to inspire all girls and boys to use their talents and abilities to think outside the box, to channel their ideas creatively, and most importantly, to have fun!

Program Details:
  • The program will be on-site next to the workshop where 12+ robotics teams meet and build their robots.
  • This after-school camp is ideal for students in grades 4-8, coding experience is optional and not required.
  • The program lasts for 12 weeks from September to December. Students meet once a week based on the day of the registration.
  • This class is led by peer instructors who are also robotics competition team members with experience to share for learning opportunities beyond this camp.

Requirements
  • Computer required for all participants. Contact QCRA before the session if a loaner computer is needed.
  • Low-cost, refurbished computers are available for purchase from E2D (https://www.e-2-d.org/)

Transportation
  • QCRA does not offer transportation at this time. The parent or legal guardian is responsible for transporting students to the facility and to see that the student gets safely to and from the classroom.

Food Policy
  • Only water is allowed during class. Snacks and drinks are optional and can be consumed in designated areas but won't be allowed when working on robots and computers.

Opportunity Boost Program

Currently, we do not have the funds to offer scholarships, but we're working hard to raise them. If we are able to provide scholarships in the future, they will be offered based on the following criteria:

If your student attends a Title I school, or receives government financial support. You can initiate the process by emailing [email protected]. We will follow up to determine your eligibility for assistance.

When applying, you’ll need to provide the attending school if you plan to take advantage of the Title I discount. We will accept various forms of documentation, such as a copy or photo of any official government financial assistance documentation (e.g., WIC, Medicaid, Section 8).

In the meantime, we encourage you to follow us on LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram, or sign up for our newsletter through our website at queencityrobotics.org to stay updated on any future announcements.
