The time is finally upon us to resume gathering together in the spirit of community and togetherness. As such, please consider yourself invited to the first 2021 roaming church nite. This event will be held outside at Elder Street Artist Lofts (ESAL) and is being hosted by Sy Tran and I with Mike Eros as the Houston Burner’s co-host. Special guests, Cirque & Destroy are invited to spin fire and practice.
What: Soulstice - A Pre-Summer Solstice gathering
When: Thursday June 17th 2021 8-11 PM
Where: 1101 Elder St. Artist’s Lofts- back garden (outside) — Address 1101 Elder St, Houston TX 77007
Why: To kindle fires and reconnect outside, to rejoice, reconnect, and reignite our creative flames.
Who: all welcome
Special request: submit your art project ideas for consideration
This location may become a monthly Roaming Tribe Church Nite host, depending on our integration with their community. ESAL will be having a happy hour outside earlier in the evening also.
For this first event, we will have an outdoor Porta potty, a fire pit, and some light music and minor art installations. Feel free to bring a cup and your wonderful selves, there were also be a keg of beer and some non-alcoholic water cooler.
10+1 Principles in the age of Pandemia: if you are unvaccinated please mask and social distance. This is a leave no trace nite. We will be gathering in someone’s personal backyard, namely some non-burners who don’t know our culture particularly. But they love that we love art and fire. Let’s be respectful as we meet them. If you know someone personally who lives in the building, of course you can go inside, but otherwise please remain outside.
Parking*** will be somewhat limited, but we should have room for at least 20 cars at ESAL in the Upper Lot (look for a giant #1) and overflow parking across the street at Ecclesia church. No pets for this one, although there may be resident animals around.
ESAL is a wonderful historical building and feel free to have a look around the front also, which features historical markers and a view of downtown. ESAL is also full of working professional artists, and sometimes also has gallery shows. Houston Burners will try to cross-post these in future.
Thanks to Sy Van Tran and Pyro Pantera and others for helping to get Roaming church nites going again. This is on a Thursday, which is may be unusual, but we also wanted to not conflict with Warehouse Wednesdays.
