Who will be the 1st Rivers of Fire Wing Champion?
Join us on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at New Amsterdam in Lawrenceville for the inaugural Rivers of Fire Hot Wing Competition—an epic showdown celebrating the flavors (and fire) of Pittsburgh's Rivers of Fire – Pittsburgh’s first & only hot sauce festival.
Created and hosted by Lisa, owner of Hammajack Heat Co., and held at New Amsterdam in Lawrenceville beginning at 7:30 pm - 10 tickets are available for $23 each. Each competitor will take on 12 wings. To complete the challenge, every wing must be cleaned completely (all of the chicken must be eaten from the bone).
The Challenge
Wings 1–10: Each wing is coated in a different hot sauce from 10 vendors that will be featured at Pittsburgh's Rivers of Fire on October 10. Experience an incredible variety of flavors while the heat steadily builds.
Wings 11 & 12: The grand finale. These two wings are drenched in an exclusive, extra-hot sauce created by Pepper Boy Pepper Co. specifically for this competition. You haven’t had this sauce anywhere else.
The Prize
There can only be one champion. This is intended to be an ameteur competition. This is not for members of the International League of Fire members or others well-known for their heat tolerance.
The winner will receive:
- Two complimentary tickets to Pittsburgh's Rivers of Fire on October 10.
- A custom Pittsburgh's Rivers of Fire branded leather hot sauce holster, handcrafted by Hot Sauce Holsters LLC, one of this year's festival vendors.
- Ultimate bragging rights as the inaugural Rivers of Fire Hot Wing Champion
Tie Breaker
If multiple competitors finish all 12 wings within the allotted time, the winner will be decided in a tie-breaker. Be prepared—the tie-breaker may involve eating super-hot peppers, with the last competitor standing claiming the title.
