River Valley Sound: Travis Matthews at Little Brick
About this Event
Travis Matthews is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who believes music should bring people together, preferably with a smile on their faces. Equally at home in an intimate folk club or leading a room full of people in a singalong, Travis brings an infectious sense of fun and a genuine connection with his audience to every performance.
A familiar face on Alberta's folk music circuit, Travis has performed solo at the Edmonton and Canmore Folk Music Festivals and shared stages with established artists at folk clubs across the province. His musical roots run deep, too. He's currently backed by his father, Gord Matthews, whose own credits include K.D. Lang and the Reclines and Ian Tyson, bringing a family connection and a wealth of musical experience to the stage.
Travis's approach to music extends well beyond the songs themselves. A release party that featured soulful singalongs, a 120-person conga line and a little crowd surfing raised $3,000 for Ducks Unlimited, offering a pretty good indication of what happens when he gets a room full of people together.
With an easygoing stage presence, soulful vocals and a knack for turning a performance into a shared experience, Travis is a reminder that sometimes the best thing music can do is make everyone feel part of something.
