Join LA River Arts to experience art, culture, and place along the 51 miles of the LA River. In the spirit of Hyonaayn’ar--a Tongva word that means both teacher and student--participants will learn about the River’s ephemeral histories and imagine it’s ecological futures, all while exploring diverse and dynamic cultural responses to the watershed.

Each month we conduct creative field research with artists, Indigenous Culture Bearers and local experts. Look for surprises around the bend!

LOCATION: ART IN THE PARK, Hermon Park, 5568 Via Marisol, Los Angeles, CA 90042

Celebrate the culmination of LA RIVER ARTS Camp with music, a children’s art show, and hands-on art-making activities under the canopy of the mature sycamores at Hermon Park in NELA.

The event is hosted by our summer camp partner, Art in the Park. This beloved neighborhood community arts center is a Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs partnership arts site and a unique gem amongst the City of Los Angeles Rec & Parks facilities on the banks of a scenic bend in the Arroyo Seco, an important tributary of the LA River — not to be missed!

Starting at 11am, join in the music making with the Community Band led by Logan Hone or get your hands dirty making art with us. Bring an instrument or grab maracas or other instrument set out by the band – musicians of all levels are welcome!

The children’s art show features artworks created side-by-side with teaching artists, exploring regenerative art strategies and different ecologies in collaboration with Nature, the Arroyo Seco, and all living beings at the park.
