River Raft Regatta

United Against Poverty is excited to announce the Inaugural River Raft Regatta - All Hands on Deck on September 18 at Captain Hirams in Sebastian!

Teams of 4 will work together to build a watercraft in the months leading up to the Regatta. The boats will be made of recycled materials and race in the Indian River at Captian Hirams.

There will be awards for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd fastest teams, most spirited team, and best capsize!

Your watercraft doesn't have to look like a boat! In fact, teams are not allowed to use any traditional boat parts in their design (so no boat bodies, motors, canoes, kayaks, etc.). Your team of 4 must be able to carry your boat to get it in and out of the water. One team member must be in your watercraft at all times and you cannot leave any parts of your watercraft in the river or else ye walk the plank!

Get creative and start collecting empty water bottles, pool floaties. Here are some examples to help get the creative ideas flowing. Alright, that's all the help you get! The rest is up to you and your team.
