About this Event
Join SDCC staff, Heritage Officer Dr. Rosaleen Dwyer (author of The Echo's Nature Corner) and the Poddle Flood Alleviation Scheme Project Resident Engineer David Grant, on a guided tour of the Tymon Park Integrated Constructed Wetlands (ICWs) to see how the new wetland has flourished and become a haven for biodiversity.
About this event
The guided walk at the newly constructed River Poddle Wetland and boardwalk in Tymon Park will provide an insight into how the innovative River Poddle Flood Alleviation Scheme wetland is already flourishing as a water quality nature-based solution and a haven for biodiversity. The tour will include the diverse plants and habitats in and around the River Poddle wetland that support native insects, birds and other wildlife. This wetland is a unique and vibrant habitat and the rare moth species, found in the Tymon Park location in Dublin, that feeds on the wetland plants will be discussed. The guided tour will exemplify the importance of this vital green infrastructure project and River Poddle habitats for biodiversity in the wider green corridor of Tymon Park.
