Rituals for Climate Grief
About this Event
For many people, the climate crisis is not only a threat to the world we live in, but also a threat to our spiritual, emotional, and psychic well-being. Meaning, purpose, and hope can be a struggle, and it can be hard to make sense of what to do with the grief we feel. Ritual—a set of actions performed in a regular way—can be a healing way to cope.
In this one-hour workshop, we’ll discuss rituals (both personal and communal) that can be utilized to honor and support the grief, fear, and despair that many feel in the face of climate disaster. Together we will seek ways to transform this grief into empowered action. We will cultivate creative skills and use communal reflection to find ways to honor our grief in these difficult times, as well as brainstorm meaningful next steps to care for the wild places we love most. As a group, we will learn how grounding our grief in community helps cultivate hope in our daily pursuit of caring for the Earth.
