Our guest this month is Evelyn Silver, former Director of the Hunterian, University of Glasgow and Leeds Museum and Galleries. Evelyn has been an accredited lecturer with The Arts Society for many years and led our study day tour on Rennie Macintosh last season.
George Bernard Shaw said “Unless you can say “This is the very thing for your splendid dining room” you have no chance. Only a handful of bold London dealers in the pre 1945 period persisted. Picasso’s one man show in London was a commercial disaster though that of Matisse in the same gallery had been a huge success. This talk abounds in incidents of outrage, hilarity and adventurous collecting.
Doors and café open from 10.00. Why not come along and join us for what promises to be a very entertaining lecture.
Guest fee £12 payable on the door.
