About this Event
Course Overview
This course provides WSH Officers with a foundational understanding of the SS ISO 31000:2018 and SS ISO 706:2024 standards, both of which guide risk management at the organisational and operational level. Participants will gain insights into their structure, key principles, and application relevance in Singapore’s WSH context. The session supports officers in aligning workplace safety efforts with international best practices and local regulatory expectations.
Course Learning Outcome
This short course introduces participants to two important risk management standards:
- SS ISO 31000:2018, which outlines principles and a framework for managing risk across organisations, and
- SS ISO 706:2024, Singapore’s new WSH-specific standard that provides structured guidance for identifying, assessing, and controlling workplace safety and health risks.
The session will explore how these standards complement each other and can be applied by WSH Officers in policy, operational planning, and site-level risk assessments. Practical examples and comparisons with existing WSH guidelines (e.g., RMCP) will be used to reinforce understanding.
Objectives
- Understand the purpose, structure, and key principles of SS ISO 31000:2018
- Interpret the requirements of SS ISO 706:2024 in the context of Singapore’s WSH regulatory environment
- Identify similarities and differences between the two standards
- Apply standard-aligned thinking to improve workplace risk management systems
- Support alignment of site or organisational RM practices with national and international expectations
