Welcome to Risk A Verse, the night which brings feelgood communal tunery to the fine folk of Leeds! The concept is this: you sign up for a slot in advance to play and/or sing a song of your choice on the theme, then on the night you sing the verses and everyone else joins in on the chorus. The theme this time is songs relating to the four classical elements: fire, water, earth and air. You can pick one - you don't have to cover all four in the same song, though you're welcome to try!
If you'd like to perform on the night, here's what you need to do:
1) Sign up for a slot by sending a message to the Risk A Verse Facebook page, stating the song you'd like to perform, as soon as possible.
In the past we've set a deadline, but the majority of the slots for this event were actually filled on the night of the last one (we're lucky to have a growing community of keen Risk A Versers), so 'as soon as possible' is better advice to snap up one of the remaining slots!
2) On the night, we will project the lyrics onto the wall, so if your version differs from the version on https://genius.com then please let us know at least a few days before the event.
If performing, please let us know if you'd like to enlist the services of House Guitarist Mike to accompany you - or you're welcome to use a backing track if not accompanying yourself.
If playing the song yourself, you must bring your own instrument. There is an in-house PA and sound engineer. Percussion (played by you or a friend) is optional, though we don't want to faff around with any drum kits.
If you are concerned about sharing a mic and can bring your own, you are welcome to use it.
Doors are at 7.15pm and we'll start the music at 7.45pm.
