About this Event

Rise to Our Cause on Ascension Thursday

Following the success of our inaugural CCSP Ascension Day fundraiser last year at Buckfast Abbey, this year’s ‘Rise to Our Cause’ event is being held at St Mary’s in Poole on Ascension Thursday.

Main details

Our event starts with Holy Mass in the church at 12 noon, followed by a buffet lunch in the church hall before this year’s Guest Speaker, the hugely popular David Wells, who has talked at many events in the past across the Diocese.

Who is David Wells?

Only the best speaker since sliced bread!

David is known as inspirational speaker in schools, diocese, and conferences for both young and those a little older. To those of a catholic persuasion and those not. He is known internationally, but wherever he is, he engages. Through humour, personal testimony and anecdotes that connect with his topics and the people in front of him.

You may even have seen him on some of the teaching materials for the church or seen one of his many books.

More about him can be found on his website - https://davidwellslive.com/speaking/

Who are CCSP?

CCSP is the Catholic Children’s Society (Plymouth) and we help vulnerable children and families living in our Diocese.

We provide:

  • Parenting courses in school and community settings
  • The Good Shepherd Programme, encouraging children to think of others
  • Rainbows Bereavement and Loss training for schools and parishes

You can find out more on our website - https://www.ccsplymouth.org.uk/about-us/
