RISE & Shine: Protecting Youth in a Digital World

Join us for RISE & Shine, a free two-hour educational session for nonprofit and community professionals. This morning's topic — Behind the Screen: Protecting Youth in a Digital World — features a panel of experts from federal law enforcement, the U.S. Attorney's Office, the legal field, and mental health.

We'll begin by exploring the digital landscape — key terms, the progression of online grooming, and how predators target vulnerabilities in youth. From there, our panel will walk through real warning signs, emerging threats like violent nihilistic extremism networks, and an FBI presentation on the 764 Network. We'll also cover the legal side of exploitation cases, including mandatory reporting and prosecution challenges, before closing with trauma-informed guidance on how to support young people who disclose abuse.

Participants will leave with practical resources, local reporting pathways, and the tools needed to recognize danger and respond with confidence.
