Rippled Pond: Beginner Oil Painting Class in Dallas

Create your own work of art for your home in oil paint with soft color, movement, and texture in this beginner-friendly class. Inspired by the gentle patterns created when light dances across rippled water, you'll learn how to build a harmonious painting that balances simplicity and detail.

Students will be guided step-by-step through the oil painting process, including color mixing, brushwork, creating movement, and layering paint to achieve rich texture and depth. Along the way, you'll explore how simple shapes and repeated marks can create a dynamic, contemporary composition.

No previous oil painting experience is required. This class is perfect for beginners who want to learn foundational techniques while creating a sophisticated artwork that feels both modern and serene.

All supplies are included for use in class, and no prior experience is necessary! BYOB welcome!

Your painting will still be wet when you leave, so prepare a space in your car to lay it flat, or bring a brown paper grocery bag to carry it home.

Location: Trade Oak Cliff, inside Tyler Station in Dallas. Enter 4 doors down from Oak Cliff Brewery.

Recommended for ages 14 and up. Minors must be accompanied by an adult with their own ticket.
