Led by Allison Judge .Join us at Jewel Beetle for a Ring Fling workshop, where you’ll design and carve your very own unique ring. You'll be guided step‑by‑step through the wax‑carving process, sharing tips and tricks to help bring your ideas to life.
No previous experience is needed—just enthusiasm and a willingness to get creative. At the end of the workshop, you’ll leave your carved wax ring with us to be cast in silver (or gold) and finished to your chosen style.
Materials & pricing: silver materials are additional and based on the final weight of your cast ring. Because designs and ring sizes vary, the cost of silver can range from $75 to $300+. We’ll help guide you during the workshop so you have a good idea of what to expect. Final material costs are calculated once your cast ring is completed and are charged at the current retail price of sterling silver on the day.
Allison completed her studies at the Kent Institute of Art and Design in 1993, earning a Higher National Diploma in Jewellery Manufacture and Design. After graduating, she began her career in London’s Hatton Garden and later worked as a designer for renowned goldsmith Elizabeth Gage.
When she moved to New Zealand, Allison settled first in Queenstown, where she worked as an in‑house jeweller for the Jade Factory, creating original designs for their collections. She later relocated to Nelson, and in 2004 she and Yvon formed a partnership as co‑owners of Jewel Beetle.
Allison Judge is known for her exquisitely detailed wax carvings, creating miniature sculptural pieces and charm designs inspired by flora, fauna, and the natural world. Wax carving is just one of the many specialist skills that Allison and Yvon bring to Jewel Beetle.
Today, Jewel Beetle operates from its studio at 56 Bridge Street, where the team specialises in bespoke jewellery.
