An evening of live music with Rik Warren and support from Damien Mahoney.Rik Warren is a trailblazing musician known for his electrifying fusion of blues, folk, and cutting-edge electronic sounds. Hailing from the hills beside Manchester, Rik crafts immersive, sonic landscapes with his guitar and voice. His raw, soulful vocals and and genre-defying lyrics have made him a staple in the city’s music scene, having also been a founding member of eclectic band Honeyfeet and synthesiser blues band, Walk.
For a number of years, Rik has also immersed himself in the fascinating world of stone circles and archeoacoustics (the study of archaeological sites through their sound and acoustic characteristics) visiting and studying sites around the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe. This exploration has not only deepened Rik’s understanding of the past but also influenced his own musical compositions, searching for the secrets and sagas that these incredible sites hold within their ancient stones.
Through a combination of meticulous research and musical expression, Rik will share songs and stories of the profound connection between sound and these ancient structures. He will share theories of the intentional placement of stones to create specific acoustic environments, enhancing the spiritual and ceremonial experiences of those who once gathered within these sacred spaces.
Rik Warren’s contemporary, multifaceted roots music is imbued with a unique, authentic spirit, yet it is also a gateway to the past: a sonic exploration of the sacred, and an invitation to connect with the ancient vibrations that still resonate within us all.
Join Rik on his musical journey, and prepare to be transported to a realm where music, history and spirituality intertwine in a truly unique and enchanting way.
The support act is Damien Mahoney, composer, producer and vocalist with the band Caulbearers and the founder of Music As Medicine. He will share acoustic versions of original songs with guitar and voice.
