We will cover Riesling, the wine of the Mosel and Rhein Regions of Germany. Riesling is a stand-alone grape varietal that is not blended with other grapes. We will compare German and American Rieslings.. Rieslings are known for its crisp acidity and can be a dry to sweet wine. We will learn about the six different categories of Deutscher Pradikatswein (German Quality Wine) based on the increasing sugar content of the grapes at harvest: Kabinett, Spätlese, Auslese, Beerenauslese, Eiswein, and Trockenbeerenauslese. Five wines tasted will be: New York Dry Riesling, Washington State Dry Riesling, German Kabinett, German Spätlese, and a German Beerenauslese.Wednesday, October 16
