Ride With Purpose Detroit - Ride For Lupus

Wednesday, October 22nd, is our last ride of the year. For this ride, we’ve been raising money for the , an organization that supports individuals living with lupus in Michigan. Lupus is a chronic illness that occurs when the body’s immune system attacks its own tissues and organs.

For every $20 we raised for the Michigan Lupus Foundation, we planned on riding a mile on 10/22. Our goal was to raise $2,000 and ride 100 miles (collectively). While we haven’t reached that goal, we’ve designed a 22-mile route for the day.

So on 10/22, we’ll meet at the Cullen Family Carousel (1340 Atwater St, Detroit, MI 48207) on the Detroit Riverwalk at 5:45pm. At 6pm, we’ll embark on our ride, heading west on the riverwalk to Riverside Park, then doubling-back along the riverwalk to the Dequindre Cut. We’ll do an out-and-back on the Cut, then we’ll take the riverwalk east to the McArthur Bridge and around the Belle Isle loop. We should return to the carousel by 8pm.

Please bring your bike lights for this one, as we’ll be riding after dark. And wear purple to support lupus warriors! We’ll coordinate a meet-up with you along the route based on the number of miles you’d like to ride or the time you’re able to meet us.
