The Shepherd's House has been serving homeless women and families since 2003. In 2022 they moved from an 18-bed facility to a 64-bed facility and beginning this year, the Shepherd's House will open an 8 bed men's shelter, serving single men. The rural service region for Shepherd's House include; Surry, Stokes, Yadkin, Wilkes, Davie, Iredell counties of NC and Patrick (VA), Carrol (VA).
The Helping Hands Foundation Food Pantry has been serving the community since 2011 and are constantly working on creating long lasting solutions to defeat poverty and hunger while fostering individual pride and sustainability. The service region for Helping Hands are primarily Surry and Stokes counties of NC and Patrick and Carrol counties of Virginia.
