About this Event

Join the Farmington Valley Trails Council, Farmington Canal Rail to Trail Association and East Coast Greenway Alliance for a 56-mile bike ride to explore the Farmington Canal Heritage Trail! Saturday, June 26 from New Haven, CT to Southwick, MA.

Most of the ride will be on trails with only a few sections on carefully selected local roads. Ride tickets are $40 per person, which includes lunch. The first 45 people registered can get a bus ride back to New Haven for an additional $20 per person (COVID-19 vaccinations required to take the bus). Helmets are required to participate in the ride. There will be two rest stops, SAG support, and a police escort on RT 10.

On-site registration will start at 7:30 am and the ride will begin just after 8:00 am. Meet at the southwest corner of New Haven Green at the corner of Chapel and College Streets at the Pierre Lallement Memorial Stone. The ride is scheduled to end at 3:00 pm in Southwick, MA.

Lunch, hosted by Bike/Walk Avon and the Brighenti Family, will take place at 12:00 pm, in Avon, at Riverdale Farms, 124 Simsbury Rd. (RT 10).

Starting at the New Haven Green, the ride will pass through 11 Connecticut towns before it reaches Southwick, MA. Most of the route is off-road trails, providing a safe system of linear parks that can be accessed at multiple points. Only two trail gaps remain – in New Haven and the Plainville area.

Proceeds support the East Coast Greenway Alliance, Farmington Valley Trails Council, and Farmington Canal Rail to Trail Association, nonprofits working to close the gaps on this scenic, multi-use trail.
