Ride Bristol Dig Day – 13th June, Morning

What’s the plan?

We’re going to work on the Nova MTB trail at the start of the wall section alongside Beggar Bush Lane. We’ll build some new features where the trail splits – feel free to contribute your own ideas on what you’d like to see.

We’ll also be improving drainage, removing vegetation and refurbing the trail to get it back into tip-top shape.

Where to meet

This is about 15 minutes’ walk from the golf course car park (paid parking applies). Best to cycle if possible.

What to expect

Work as part of a team to repair the trail surface and correct its alignment, repair trail features or build new ones, and fill potholes. Most, but not all, the work is physical; if you are fit enough to ride the trails, you will be fine with this. The vibe is about fun, working at a sustainable pace and, for those who wish to, developing trail-building skills.

Don't worry if this is your first dig day - our dig leaders will be on hand to show you what to do and to offer friendly advice. We will provide tools and materials. You don't need any specialist skills to be useful. We try to rotate tasks to ensure everyone has a rewarding and enjoyable time.

Tips and advice for getting the most out of the day

1. Clothing: Wear something that you don't mind getting dirty. Wear sturdy boots and bring gloves - e.g. gardening or building gloves. Wear your MTB glasses for some eye protection. Dress appropriately for the weather e.g. bring waterproofs, sunscreen, insect repellent etc.

2. Bring water and snacks. Bring lunch if you are doing both sessions in the day.

3. Arrive a few minutes early.

Please cancel on Eventbrite if you cannot attend – this will free up your space for someone else.

Individual volunteers must be aged 18 or over. Volunteers aged 14 or over are also welcome but only if they are supervised by an accompanying adult.

Toilet facilities

The nearest toilets are adjacent to the cafe and Pedal Progression in the golf course car park.

Bike security

Ideally, bring a lock or keep the bike near where you are working. We can put some bikes in our Horse Box tool store.
