RICK FOWLER BAND - MICHAEL GUTHRIE
About this Event
Rick Fowler has spent more than four decades letting his guitar speak for him. Known for his expressive phrasing, rich vibrato, and deeply emotional playing, he has built a reputation as one of the Southeast’s most respected guitarists. As a co-founder of Fortnox, Bombay, and Bad Fun, Fowler has contributed to hundreds of recordings and performances, collaborating with artists ranging from Bertie Higgins and Beverly “Guitar” Watkins to Bill Berry of R.E.M. His work also includes the score for the Sundance Award-winning documentary Dirty Work and the acclaimed Deadwood Guitar Sessions.
Originally recorded in Atlanta in 2007 and reissued by Strolling Bones Records in 2026, Back On My Good Foot stands as Fowler’s most personal statement. Backed by an all-star cast of musicians, the record captures Fowler’s storytelling approach to music, blending raw emotion, atmosphere, and authenticity.
Rooted in the influence of his friend and mentor Harl Baggett, Back On My Good Foot reflects Fowler’s belief that great blues is about creating an experience rather than showcasing virtuosity. Through songs of struggle, redemption, humor, and longing, the album invites listeners into vivid emotional landscapes, offering the clearest portrait of an artist who has spent a lifetime finding his voice through six strings.
Armed with music old and new, Michael Guthrie still spearheads the power of rock to new generations again and again, into the future.
