About this Event

Come celebrate the opening of the Richmond Wellness Trail with a health & wellness fair, a guided exercise class, and project & community partners tabling! Don't forget your walking shoes, roller skates, or bikes--the Richmond Wellness Trail is a great way to get around!

The celebration will take place at Unity Park.

About the Richmond Wellness Trail Project:

The Richmond Wellness Trail was inspired by a vision plan by Kieron Slaughter, Richmond’s National Park Service 2016-2017 Fellow. Through a grant from California Natural Resources Agency (CNRA), Trust for Public Land worked in partnership with the City of Richmond and many community groups (including our key partners: Watershed Project, Groundwork Richmond and Rich City Rides) to transform 1 mile of city street into a safe, inviting, multimodal, ADA-accessible, and multi-benefit green infrastructure route . The project includes a dedicated two-way bicycle trail with colorful paving along Marina Way South, pedestrian safety improvements such as updated curb ramps, and urban greening elements, such as stormwater planters, curb extensions with rain gardens, trees, landscaping, and signage. The Richmond Wellness trail aims to support Richmond residents in living a healthy and active lifestyle.

The full trail, beyond Phase 1, will link pedestrians and bicyclists from the Richmond BART/AMTRAK station south through the Iron Triangle neighborhood to the Richmond Greenway. The trail will travel south through the Coronado neighborhood along Marina Way S. to Wright Avenue and connect to the Bay Trail. Future phases of the RWT will extend an additional 2.65 miles, past Cutting Blvd., to the Richmond shoreline, Richmond Ferry, and the Rosie the Riveter/World War II Home Front National Historical Park at the Richmond shoreline.

Guided Bike Ride

Rich City Rides will be hosting a Sunday Bike Ride through the Richmond Wellness Trail and beyond, ending at Unity Park Plaza for our Opening Celebration. To join them, meet at Unity Park at 10am.
