Richmond Alfresco Dancing

After an amazingly successful impromptu event on New Years Day 2022. (See video below) We have all decided to do it again. This time making it a ticketed event so we know who's coming and can manage numbers, but also to raise funds that support the development of soulful events that facilitate the joyful wellbeing of a community.

So come join us at Tide Tables Cafe, under the beautiful Richmond Bridge and giant London Plane trees alongside the River Thames. Whether you're just watching or taking part you can enjoy the tasty delights of the cafe as well as the joyful delights of dance.

It's a perfect event for the whole family, including your dog, to enjoy with a mix of expert tuition and social dancing.

You're welcome to just sit and watch the dancing or you can buy a ticket and take part in the step by step tuition from local BBC Strictly Come Dancing professional Andrew Cuerden. Classes are great fun for all levels, but aimed primarily at beginners.

Tickets are £10 per adult and £5 (under 18's) which entitles you to stay for the whole event, or just part of it. The 3hr event will include 3 x 30min dance classes between social dancing. Participants will receive an arm band to show payment. Spectators and friends are welcome to watch for free.

What to wear?

This event is very informal so wear whatever you are comfortable in. We suggust wearing layers so you can easily regulate your body temperature. At the moment there is no dance floor, just flat earth that maybe a little dusty or muddy. So please wear normal outdoor shoes that are light and comfortable and you don't mind getting a little dirty. However please feel free to dress up and make it a more romantic occasion, being the 13th February and quite a romantic setting and activity.

Do I need a partner?

No. You can come on your own or with a partner. There is a mix of solo and partner dancing available.

Getting to Tide Tables:

What if it rains?

If it is raining heavily, the event will not go ahead and tickets will be transfered to a future date or refunded. However if it is just slight drizzle or intermittent light rain the event will still go ahead. So if there is a chance of rain, wear appropriate clothes and footwear.
