For nearly four years, photographer, author, and publisher Rich-Joseph Facun documented the evolving relationship between Ohio University and the surrounding community through the creation of 1804. Through these photographs, the work explores themes of place, identity, memory, and belonging while examining the ways institutions and communities shape one another.
Following the reception, Appalachian photographer and writer Roger May joins Rich-Joseph Facun for a conversation about the making of 1804, the stories behind the photographs, and how photography can deepen our understanding of the places we inhabit, the communities we share, and the evolving relationship between them. The evening concludes with a public Q&A and book signing. Copies of 1804 will be available for purchase.
