Ricciotti per Tutti!
This summer, the Ricciotti ensemble undertakes a musical return trip to the country of Michelangelo, Morricone and Macaroni: Italy. During Ricciotti per Tutti we first play music in the Netherlands from the birthplace of the Renaissance, the Baroque and the Opera. After a trip on the night train, the Norma Overture of Bellini, film music by Nina Rota and danceable Italo Disco, also sound on the piazzas, stations and streets of Italy. For example, we try to bring the rich Italian music history to places outside the opera houses and concert halls. The Italian composer Damiano Pascarelli, living in the Netherlands, wrote the piece Aria especially for this tour, inspired by folk music from his native Emilia-Romagna. We take as our prima donna mezzo-soprano Roza Herwig, who will sing repertoire of Berio and Vivaldi with us as a soloist. In this way, even more people outside the Netherlands will hear us as a street symphony orchestra this summer. Because that's what we believe in: Ricciotti per Tutti!
About the Ricciotti ensemble
With the motto ‘everywhere and for everyone’, the Ricciotti ensemble has been playing live symphonic music at home and abroad for more than fifty years. The 43-piece orchestra, which consists of young musicians between the ages of eighteen and thirty, brings music to as many people as possible who normally do not or hardly come into contact with this. For example, we give performances on the street, but also in prisons, AZCs and care homes. The Ricciotti also plays a colorful collection of music. Everything comes along: from classical and jazz to pop and rock.
About soloist Roza Herwig
Roza Herwig is a versatile mezzo-soprano, actress and theatre maker with a warm voice, a sparkling stage look and a great love of storytelling. With her musical versatility, she moves effortlessly between opera, song, musical theatre and new artistic forms.
