Ribera del Duero, which literally means “riverbank,” is Spain's most renowned wine region with some world-renowned wineries. Due to the extreme temperature variations throughout the year, the grapes develop full and complex aromas. Accordingly, locals describe the climate as “9 months of winter and 3 months of hell.” The wines from the D.O. Ribera del Duero consist mainly of Tempranillo and are distinguished by their high quality, limited production and innovative dedication.
