The City of Palm Bay is honored to announce the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the newly enhanced Sacrifice Park, a cherished memorial dedicated to first responders who have made the ultimate sacrifice while serving the Palm Bay and Brevard County community. The event will take place on Friday, March 28, at 9:00 AM at Sacrifice Park, located in Palm Bay.Originally constructed in the early 2000s, Sacrifice Park served as a tribute to Palm Bay Police Officers Ronald Grogan and Gerald Johnson, who tragically lost their lives in the line of duty on April 23, 1987. Over the years, the park has stood as a reminder of the solemn commitment that our police and firefighters make each day to protect and serve our community.
The enhancements to Sacrifice Park include several significant additions designed to elevate the memorial’s impact. These features include a three-sided obelisk representing all first responders – Police, Fire, and Emergency Medical Technicians, a flagpole opposite the obelisk, an inlaid LED “thin blue line” light feature, and an engraved Pledge of Allegiance. The park also features enhanced landscaping and uplighting, benches for visitors to reflect and pay tribute, and the Johnson and Grogan Memorial Amphitheater. Additional updates include memorial walls designed at an angle for optimal viewing and engraved bronze plaques, allowing visitors to create pencil etchings as keepsakes.
The City of Palm Bay invites the community to join this special event as we honor and remember our fallen heroes. For more information, please visit www.pbfl.org/SacrificePark.
