A collaborative discussion for practices and those from the built environment on navigating the Building Safety Act in real-world settings
About this Event

The Building Safety Act continues to reshape responsibilities across our sector so join us for a collaborative, practitioner-led discussion on what the act means in practice, how organisations are responding, and what we’ve learned as an industry so far. This session brings together professionals to share real-world experiences and hear from peers who are actively navigating the Act’s requirements.

This event brings practitioners together to explore:

  • Where we’ve come from and how the industry has adapted
  • What we’ve learned in implementing new processes
  • How we see responsibilities evolving, both now and in the near future

During the event, we will also explore four focused presentation topics:

HRB to Domestic: Building Safety and Building Control Update

Presented by Tony Harvey-Soanes (Vantage Building Control), and Paul Hilsden (RH Building Consultancy)
An overview of the latest developments affecting both Higher-Risk Buildings and domestic projects, with insight into current Building Control approaches.

Traditional vs Design & Build: Understanding the Differences Under the Act

Presented by Aoife O’Gorman(BCR Infinity),and Mark Hart (Barnes Construction)
A comparison of procurement routes and how responsibilities, risk, and compliance obligations shift under each model.

Compliance Tracking: What Is Needed and When

Presented by David Hills (rhp) and RIBA
A practical look at how to structure compliance tracking to meet the Act’s requirements, with a specific focus on non-higher-risk buildings (non-HRBs), from early project stages through to handover.

Clients: When to Appoint and How to Provide the Best Consultant Advice

Presented by Nicky Silvey (Potter Raper) and RIBA
Guidance on client responsibilities, the timing of appointments, and delivering effective, informed consultant support throughout a project.
