Rhythms of the Commonwealth Event
Following the fantastic success of our Commonwealth Experience launch event, Springburn Unity Network is proud to present our second Commonwealth Games 2026 Festival event, Rhythms of the Commonwealth, taking place on Saturday 20th June 2026.
As we continue helping to put Springburn firmly on the map in the lead up to the Commonwealth Games Glasgow 2026, this exciting cultural celebration will showcase the rich traditions, talents and diversity that make our communities so special.
The day begins at 10 am at Springburn Unity Network, inside Springburn Shopping Centre, where participants and visitors are invited to gather before a special community march. At 10:30am, Piping Live will lead a short procession from the shopping centre to St Aloysius Hall, Hillkirk Street, with the sound of traditional Scottish bagpipes guiding us to the venue. Everyone is welcome to join this memorable walk and be part of the celebration.
Once at the venue, visitors will enjoy an exciting programme of traditional and contemporary performances, including:
- Traditional Scottish piping by Piping Live Scotland
- A lively Scottish Ceilidh by Glasgow Folk Music Workshop
- A beautiful Chinese synchronised fan dance by Glasgow Chinese Recreation Centre
- An energetic Dhol performance by Gurmare
- A spectacular Dragon and Lion Dance performance by Glasgow Hong Lok Dragon and Lion Dance Troupe
- Diverse solo musical performances from participants and members of our youth group
This event is about more than performances, it's about bringing people together, celebrating our different cultures, and demonstrating the unity, friendship and community spirit that exists throughout Springburn and Glasgow.
Join us as we celebrate the many cultures that make our city vibrant and show the world that, despite our diverse backgrounds, we are one community, united together in #Springburn and #Glasgow
We look forward to welcoming everyone for a day of music, culture, friendship and celebration. Admission is free and all are welcome! 🌍🎭🌞🕺🏽💃🏽
