This summer Candace taught an experimental plant music program for youth at The Huntington Library, collaborated with the American LGBTQ History Museum in NYC on an exploration of queer punk history, and was recognized by The LA Press Club and The National Entertainment Arts Journalism Awards for their writing. Hello! I'm Nadine Torres, a punk drummer at heart, a dedicated private music instructor, and a proud member of the Los Angeles Queercore scene. My passion lies at the intersection of rhythm and insurgency. Along with my bandmates in The Groans, I am deeply committed to crafting performances that empower ourselves and our community. Beyond the drum set, I have the privilege of providing assistance to the artist Phranc, contributing to significant works like “The Butch Closet”and studying at Cal Arts. Looking ahead, I'm beaming with enthusiasm at the prospect of further investing in my community and ultimately bringing more queer noise to the world!
