Rhythm Capital is Canberra's hottest swing band featuring jazz from the 20's, 30s and 40s and beyond. Band leader and reeds player, Justin Buckingham, has assembled what he calls the Capital's “swingingest” musicians playing standards from the greats such as Louis Armstrong, Artie Shaw, Chick Webb, Count Basie, to name a few.Aiming for lots more energy and lots more swing, Justin has expanded his usual band to a 7-piece and this new combo is playing to rave reviews, not least, their appearance at ‘Jazz at Jamison’ earlier this year which saw the crowd asking for another performance from the combo before years end.
So, back by popular demand, Rhythm Capital will feature Justin on sax, clarinet and vocals, Matt Sweeney on trumpet, Valdis Thomann on trombone, Lachlan Coventry on guitar, Matt Dennett on piano, Phil Dick on bass and Steve Richards on drums.
Note that members of the Canberra Jazz Club enjoy reserved seating closer to the band.
