Taking place in , this special 90-minute evening will feature a conversation with Leslye Penelope about her new novel, followed by an audience Q&A and book signing.
Guests will have the opportunity to hear Leslye discuss the ideas, characters, themes, and creative process behind and connect with fellow readers and members of Seattle’s literary and speculative fiction communities.

About Lesley Penelope
Leslye Penelope has been writing since she could hold a pen and loves getting lost in the worlds in her head. She is an award-winning author of fantasy and paranormal romance. Equally left- and right-brained, she studied filmmaking and computer science in college and sometimes dreams in HTML. She hosts the podcast, co-hosts the podcast, and lives in Maryland with her feline dependents. Read more here.
About Brooke Bosley
Brooke Bosley, PhD. is an Afrofuturist Black Feminist Scholar, User Researcher, and Educator. As an interdisciplinary researcher working at the intersection of race and technology, she focuses on co-designing with marginalized communities, building ethical technology, and shaping Black futures. Her Seattle, WA, community inspires her through nature and spending time with friends. She facilitates a monthly Black Futures Book Club at LANGSTON and serves as Co-lead for the Seattle Black Nerd Festival. Read more here.
About Imani Sims
Imani Sims is an alchemist.
Over the past two decades Imani has collaborated with community organizations and independent artists to deliver immersive experiences all over the nation.
Imani believes in the the power of community ritual and performance art, in public space, to shift social narratives. It is Imani’s goal to immerse communities in experiences centering art and ritual by providing folks of color with platforms for their work to inspire community dialogue and transformation.
Imani’s career has spanned the corporate, government, and non-profit sectors. This depth of experience has given them a wealth of knowledge and experience with belonging, course design, leadership development, community initiatives centering the arts, event production, board development, special projects, people operations, and organizational development. About the Northwest African American Museum (NAAM)
The Northwest African American Museum is an anti-racist, pro-equity, affirming gathering place of hope, help, and healing for the entire Northwest region that is building intergenerational cultural wealth.
At the heart of the African American experience in the Northwest is the story of our journey to this region, the establishment of our vibrant community, and the ways in which we have survived. To tell this ever-unfolding story, the Museum’s exhibitions and programs feature the visual arts, music, crafts, literature, and history of African Americans in the Northwest.
