🍃 We are excited to be back to offer another immersive retreat on Awabakal Worimi Country at Glenrock (thanks to popular demand and offers of helping hands!)
We are delighted this time to be collaborating with the wonderful, grounded and inspiring Emily Bowman! Sadly Joerg won’t be present but encouraging us from afar. Emily will be bringing her rich experience of bringing bodies into conversation with places, materials, weather, landscapes, and more-than-human worlds. (Bio below)
At ReWoven, Contact Improvisation is one of our shared languages. It is not a retreat to learn CI, but your CI practice will be expanded and enriched. We welcome people with some experience and understanding of CI, who are comfortable to navigate open dance frames, and curious to explore beyond the walls of the studio.
Sessions invite us to move between the studio and outdoors sometimes by the sea and other times in the bush. There will be some jams, solo time, witnessing, amongst other offers. There will be less CI dancing than focussed CI retreats.
At this ReWoven we’ll combine our loves and curiosities to explore how movement, composition, attention, and creative practice might cultivate forms of ecological relation, care, and belonging in uncertain times.
In facilitating, we tune in to the group and the land, practicing letting go of plans when we notice a moment is asking for something different.
In small groups and the wider village we’ll find ways in which we are supported and nurtured. We also all have a role in caring for others, the collective and country on our journey together.

TIMING: Arrival - from 12noon, by 3pm Thursday
Departure - 4pm Sunday
VENUE: Glenrock Scout Camp, 157 Scout Camp Road, Whitebridge. Awabakal Worimi Country, Newcastle NSW Australia
COST: $490 Standard (payment plan available)
$390 for those with limited income
We welcome any amount above $490 for those who can pay more to support others
Financial hardship: we do not want money to be a barrier to attending, there may be some "pay what you can" places if you are experiencing financial hardship. Please let us know so we can discuss options.
MEALS: Includes delicious catered lunches and dinners for 3 days (BYO breakfast)
ACCOMMODATION: Shared dorm room or camping (BYO tent)

EMILY BOWMAN is a choreographer, performer, educator, and artist-mother based on Wadawurrung Country, Djilang/Geelong. Drawing on more than fifteen years of contemporary dance, contact improvisation, somatics, and site-responsive practice, she facilitates embodied experiences that invite curiosity, listening, and connection. Her teaching offers clear structures alongside spacious, open-ended exploration, supporting participants to work with sensation, weight, touch, environment, and compositional possibilities. Emily creates inclusive and responsive learning environments that value individual experience, inquiry, and the intelligence of the body. Her workshops welcome diverse bodies and experiences, fostering experimentation, reflection, and meaningful encounters with others, place, and the more-than-human world around us.
