"Revolutionary West Chester" takes tour participants back to the 18th century, when West Chester was still the colonial crossroads village of Turks Head. Visit the site of the tavern where the issue of independence was debated and where news of the war reached the ears of rural Chester Countians. See the location where wounded patriot soldiers were treated after the Battle of Brandywine and discover the limits of 18th century medicine. Learn about one of the town's most ardent patriots as we share his experiences as a prisoner of war. This tour explores life in Chester County on the edge of battle, in an age of revolution, and the lives of heroes and everyday people as they negotiated the treacherous path to independence.Tour is held on select Wednesdays and Saturdays, covers approximately 1.5 miles, and lasts 90 minutes. Tour is entirely outdoors; sidewalks and terrain may be uneven. Tour is rain or shine, so please dress for the weather. Service dogs are welcome; pets are not permitted on our public walking tours.
Tickets are $16.00 (members of CCHC receive 20% discount with code.) Once purchased, tickets are NONREFUNDABLE and your admission fee supports the educational mission of the Chester County History Center. Thank you!
