Revival Club: Button Upcycling
About this Event
Join us for an evening of upcycling as we transform forgotten pieces into one-of-a-kind, eclectic, button-covered creations.
Bring an item from your closet or buy something from the Glowfish thrifted collection (for the same price as I paid!) and give it new life using an eclectic mix of buttons. You’ll experiment with color, placement and pattern, then learn simple hand-sewing techniques to bring your design together. No sewing experience is needed, and all buttons, tools and instruction will be provided.
Revival Club is a Glowfish series dedicated to finding new possibilities in things that might otherwise be overlooked. This gathering’s theme is More Is More.
We’re often told that good taste means knowing when to stop: keep it simple, less is more, don’t overdo it. This time, we’re doing the opposite. Sometimes revival means letting something become louder, stranger and more eclectic than it ever was before. Follow what catches your eye, add another button and make something that doesn’t need to appeal to everyone—exactly what appeals to you.
Come alone or bring a friend. You’ll leave with a newly revived piece of clothing, the skills to keep reworking your wardrobe at home and, hopefully, a little less hesitation about being “too much.”
How we’ll spend our time

- A fun activity and thought exercise to help you connect and reflect
- A brief introduction to sewing buttons securely by hand
- Plenty of time to play with color, placement and patterns
- A relaxed wrap-up to admire everyone’s newly revived pieces

- An eclectic collection of buttons in all kinds of colors, shapes, sizes and styles
- Needles, thread, scissors and other sewing supplies to use during the workshop
- A limited selection of oversided button-ups to choose from (or bring something from your own closet!)
- Beginner-friendly instruction and support throughout the workshop
- A welcoming space to experiment without worrying about getting it “right”
Food and drinks will be available for purchase from Brave Neighbor throughout the event.
