Revisioning Reentry through Restorative Justice Practices and Inclusion
This training explores the intersection of trauma, incarceration, suicide prevention, mental wellness, and restorative justice practices, emphasizing their role in fostering communal healing and enhancing community safety. Participants will delve into the complexities of justice-impacted individuals' reentry journeys, examining the ripple effects of incarceration on individuals, families, and future generations. Through engaging discussions and actionable strategies, this training aims to equip participants with the tools and knowledge to create policies and practices that mitigate negative impacts and promote holistic community well-being. Special attention will be given to the roles of various community stakeholders in building a supportive, inclusive environment that prioritizes healing, equity, and long-term safety.
Through this training, participants will:
- Understand the Impact of Incarceration Across the Lifespan: Participants will gain insight into how justice involvement affects individuals, families, and future generations, particularly in relation to trauma, mental wellness, and community safety.
- Explore Restorative Justice as a Tool for Communal Healing: Participants will learn how restorative justice practices can be implemented to address trauma, rebuild trust, and foster connections that contribute to community wellness and reduce recidivism.
- Develop Community-Centered Strategies for Reentry Support: Participants will identify actionable ways to align policies and practices with community resources, including mental health services, suicide prevention efforts, and family reintegration support, to create sustainable pathways for justice-impacted individuals and their families.

About the Presenter:
LaToya Logan serves as the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Project LIFT Behavioral Health Services in Cleveland, OH, a venture focused on providing prevention and behavioral health services primarily to Black males facing high-risk factors. Her organization offers individual and group services addressing trauma, independence, father engagement, and life skills. In addition to this, LaToya also operates Project LIFT Consulting, LLC, where she develops training programs on a wide array of topics, including ethics, racial trauma in behavioral health, and supervision.
In addition to her professional achievements, LaToya has authored publications addressing aggression, trauma, and apathy in Black males and developed curriculum for training programs. She has received numerous awards and recognitions, including the Louis Stokes Community Service Leadership Award and the State of Ohio Social Worker of the Year. She is an adjunct professor and field instructor at Case Western Reserve University Joseph, Jack, and Morton Mandel School for Applied Social Sciences and Cleveland State University.
