Join the Turner African American Services Council (TAASC) for our annual celebration of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Saturday, January 25th, at Bethel AME Church in Ann Arbor. We will explore the Intersection of Racism and Ageism in Healthcare. In an era where health disparities and inequitable access continue to affect our communities, understanding and addressing the roots of racism in healthcare is more critical than ever. Our keynote speaker, Alfreda Rooks, Director of Community Health Services at the University of Michigan Health, will discuss this vital issue. A leading voice in health equity, Ms. Rooks will delve into the systemic challenges within healthcare systems and outline a vision for a more just and accessible future. In addition, she will be joined by a panel of students from different disciplines who will discuss what they are learning in an academic setting on this topic. A luncheon will directly follow, featuring soul food provided by Sharon’s Food for Thought.
We invite you to join us in this important conversation as we navigate the complexities of improving healthcare for all.
The event is free and open to the public, however registration is required.
