Join us in Hainesville on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM for a Reuse-O-Rama with confidential document shredding! This event will take place at Hainesville Village Hall (100 Hainesville Road, Hainesville, IL 60030). Collected items will be reused, recycled, and donated. This is a free event for household items only. Only items listed below will be accepted. The Village of Hainesville collects clothing, textiles, and shoes (shoes inside) year-round. This event is in partnership with SWALCO, the Village of Hainesville, Representative Laura Faver Dias, and Senator Mary Edly-Allen.
The following items will be accepted at this event:
- Confidential documents for shredding. Maximum of 6 banker boxes per vehicle or until truck is full). No shredding for businesses. Household personal/confidential documents only (taxes, bank/credit card statements, etc). Recycle mail, envelopes, coupons, magazines, and other paper in your home curbside recycling bin. Over 99% of paper from home is recyclable curbside.
- Shoes: all types of footwear. Tie pairs together with laces; if no laces, a rubber band or zip-tie. No Rollerblades or ice skates.
- Stuffed/plush animals, dolls, and toys. No other toys. Only all plush/stuffies.
- Clothing: New, gently used, or worn (all sizes, fabrics, types). Donations of new/gently used items are tax-deductible and will be reused. Includes costumes and pet clothing. Clean/Bagged.
- Accessories: Belts, Scarves, Hats, Gloves, Purses, Duffle Bags, and Backpacks
- Bed and Table Linens, and Towels (including sheets, comforters, quilts, blankets, tablecloths, etc.) No pillow, cushions, or rugs.
- Keys and U.S. Flags (for retirement)
- Fire Extinguishers and Automotive Batteries. No other batteries.
- CO and Smoke Detectors, Automotive Batteries
- New and gently used pet leashes and collars
- Books for Reuse: No Wet, Damaged. Moldy or Odorous Books. NO Phone Books, Magazines, “FREE” Government books, Newspapers, Time Life Books, Coloring Books, and Encyclopedias.
- Donations for Food Pantry—only these items: Peanut Butter, Spaghetti Sauce, Pasta, Canned Soups and Stews, and Rice
- Musical Instruments: Donated to children’s musical program—No keyboards or drums.
- Pens, Markers, Highlighters, Pencils, and Colored Pencils
- Bikes and Bike Helmets—new & gently used
